In this tutorial I am going to make a special lighting effect from scratch. This effect can be applied to a poster or advertisement
Step 1: Create a new document, here I used 450px width & 300px height. Now fill the new document with black (Edit>Fill and select Black or press D to reset colors and press Alt-Backspace to fill with foreground color)
Step 2: Go to Filter>Render>Lens Flare and choose Movie Prime for Lens Type and click OK
Now we will have
Step 3: Repeat step 2 to create another Lens but with different position
Step 4: Go to Filter>Distort>Zigzag and use the settings below
Step 5: Press Ctrl-J to duplicate this layer (Background) and go to Edit>Transform>Flip Horizontal
Step 6: Now change the Blending mode of this layer to Screen. This mode will keep only the light while removing black areas so we can see the light in both layers.
Step 7: Flatten all the layers by going to Layer>Flatten Image. Now we will colorize the image by going to Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. Make sure to click on the Colorize check box and use these settings
And here is the result, impressive right?
Of course you can try other settings of Hue/Saturation box to have various colors. Hope you enjoy this tutorial!
